The Ghana Police Service has arrested fifty (50) suspects following an intelligence-led anti-narcotics operation at Madina Market on May 7, 2026.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, May 8, 2026, Director-General of Police Operations, Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, said the suspects comprise 46 males and four females.
Preliminary investigations reveal a mix of Ghanaian and foreign nationals.
The suspects include two alleged leaders: Abigail Oku (26) and Mohammed Zaya (Nigerian).
Two other Nigerians, Yousef Abubakar, 25, and Ahmadu Alfani, 43, were also named as shop owners involved in the sale and distribution of narcotic substances.
Exhibits recovered include 230 boxes of tramadol (GH₵130,000), 49 boxes of wrappers (GH₵26,000), 10 parcels of Indian hemp (GH₵15,000), and other paraphernalia.
The total estimated street value is GH₵200,000. All suspects are in custody as investigations continue.
The Police Service reaffirms its commitment to dismantling narcotics networks nationwide.
