Police Inspector interdicted, remanded over alleged robbery of MoMo vendor in Kumasi

A police inspector has been interdicted and remanded into custody over his alleged involvement in the robbery of a mobile money (MoMo) vendor in Kumasi.

Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, attached to the Asuoyeboah Police Station, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following an intelligence-led operation, the regional police command said.

A search at his residences uncovered a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and GHS 9,835.00 in cash.

Dankwah was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, and remanded in police custody. He is scheduled to reappear on May 29, 2026.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

“The command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station for his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
