A 45-year-old driver, Theophilus Terkpernor, has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing GHC750,000 from his employer’s law office at Adabraka.
Police say Terkpernor cut electrical cables to disable the office CCTV camera before breaking in on May 27.
Stolen amounts included GHC50,000 kept under a table and GHC700,000 from a cabinet.
He was arrested on June 1 at Standard Chartered Bank’s head office while attempting to deposit GHC74,400 for a Toyota Corolla purchase. He reportedly confessed to stealing GHC330,000.
Police have so far recovered GHC277,700, including GHC203,300 found under the bed of his son Kelvin at Somanya in the Eastern Region. The son escaped arrest.
Terkpernor pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, and stealing. He has been remanded to reappear in court on a later date.
