The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has handed over a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and a three-unit classroom block to the Kuroboi and Kulfuo communities to improve access to healthcare and education.
Mr Adamu Yakubu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), formally handed over the projects, which were funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
The projects comprise a newly constructed CHPS compound at Kuroboi and a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the Kulfuo Friwa Basic School.
The CHPS compound includes a maternity ward, is fully furnished and connected to the national electricity grid. The classroom block has an office, staff common room, washrooms, tables and chairs for pupils, and access to electricity.
Mr Yakubu said the projects formed part of the first phase of development initiatives awarded on contract in 2025 and underscored the Assembly’s commitment to improving social infrastructure in the municipality.
He urged residents to continue supporting local authorities and their representatives through prayers, describing spiritual support as important for sustainable development.
The MCE also encouraged the beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure their longevity.
Receiving the CHPS compound on behalf of the people of Kuroboi, an elder of the community commended the Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala East for the intervention.
However, he appealed for urgent action to address persistent telecommunications network challenges in the area.
“If the MP can grant us this single request of a stable network, we are ready to make him proud and significantly increase his electoral fortunes in this community in the coming elections,” he said.
At Kulfuo, Alhaji Seidu Limann, speaking on behalf of the chief of the community, expressed appreciation for the classroom project and called on residents to support efforts aimed at bringing more development to the area.
He also offered prayers for guidance and success for the MP and his team.
Responding to the concerns raised, Mr Issah Mohammed Bataglia, the MP for Sissala East, assured residents of Kuroboi that efforts were underway to secure reliable telecommunications services for the community.
He said he was also pursuing a number of development initiatives across the constituency but preferred not to discuss them publicly until all necessary approvals had been secured.
Mr Bataglia further disclosed plans to upgrade the Tarsor/Kulfuo Basic School into a Technical Senior High School to equip young people with practical and vocational skills.
