The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a four-day planned maintenance exercise that will disrupt power supply to several communities in the Accra East Region, effective Monday, August 10.
The exercise, scheduled to run through Thursday, August 13, will see daily power interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm as the company undertakes critical maintenance works aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the affected areas.
Starting from Monday, August 10, customers in Teiman, Oyarifa, Mr Smith, parts of Ogbodjo, Tsmasiwaa Hospital, Ability and surrounding areas will experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On Tuesday, August 11. the maintenance moves to Ashiyie, parts of Dodowa, Tobinco, Oasis Estate, Manet Junction and surrounding communities during the same time window.
Affected areas on Wednesday include parts of Labone, Agbogba Zongo, Adenta SDA, Tot-to-teen School, Top Herbal Clinic, parts of Madina, Libya Quarters and surrounding areas.
The final phase of the exercise on Thursday will affect Achimota School and surrounding areas, also from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
ECG has urged customers in the affected communities to take note of the schedule and make necessary arrangements ahead of the temporary interruptions. The company has assured the public that the maintenance is essential for long-term improvements to the power network.
In a statement, ECG apologised for the inconvenience the exercise may cause, emphasising that the upgrades are intended to enhance service delivery and reduce future unplanned outages.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution when using candles or alternative lighting sources, charge electronic devices in advance, make alternative arrangements for work or study where possible, and keep perishable items properly stored.
