The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted twenty-five (25) officers of the Ghana Police Service in recognition of their exceptional professionalism, tactical competence, and operational contributions to recent successful crime-fighting initiatives.
The promotions, which take immediate effect, were endorsed by the Police Management Board (POMAB) following a review of the officers’ performance in three distinct operations conducted across the Bono East, Tema, and Western Central Police Regions.
The elevated officers were cited for their direct involvement in the arrest of six suspects implicated in the robbery of GH¢300,000.00 along the Portor–Kawempe corridor of the Kintampo-Buipe Highway on 19 July 2026; the apprehension of four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate connected to a violent incident at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa District; and the interception and seizure of 866 parcels of suspected cocaine at the Tema Harbour, representing a significant disruption to illicit drug trafficking operations.
The following personnel have been elevated to their next respective ranks: Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh; General Sergeants Elijah Ndaga Yinimi and Kaifan Sulemanna; General Corporals Owusu Ansah Evans and Tansang Jonathan; General Lance Corporals Osei Christopher Bonny, Kyei Francis, Ofori Francis, Anim Dominic, and Asante Isaac; and General Constables Adam Bakari Alhassan and Bakai Mark.
From the Criminal Investigations Department, the promoted officers are Detective Chief Inspector Frank Dzah; Detective Inspectors Edem Ametowoga, Abroso, and Vincent Dankwah; and Detective Sergeants Salifu Yakubu and Samuel Mordzifa.
In addition, six other personnel from various operational units have been promoted to their next ranks in recognition of their sustained contributions to the Service’s broader crime prevention objectives.
Chief Inspectors Bede Nwinbomeh and Joe Tetteh have, in addition to their promotions, been granted automatic admission to the Police Academy for further professional development and leadership training, a privilege reserved for officers who have demonstrated outstanding promise and exemplary conduct.
The Inspector General of Police, on behalf of the Police Management Board, extended formal congratulations to all promoted personnel.
He commended their diligence, fortitude, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law, and urged them to continue to serve as role models within their respective formations.
“These elevations are a testament to the value this administration places on merit, integrity, and results,” the IGP stated.
“The Ghana Police Service remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property, and we shall continue to identify, acknowledge, and reward excellence in the discharge of duty.”
The IGP further assured the public and the wider Service that the current leadership is committed to institutionalising a performance-based reward system to motivate personnel and enhance operational effectiveness across all regions.
