Global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has married his long-term partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, during a civil ceremony in Portugal, multiple sources confirm.
The Portuguese forward announced the union on social media, posting an image on Instagram of two hands, believed to be his and Rodríguez’s, adorned with matching wedding bands. The post amassed more than three million likes within half an hour of being shared.
Portuguese media have hailed the event as the “wedding of the year,” reporting that the couple exchanged vows on August 11 in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon. Their five children were reportedly in attendance.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been together for a decade, having first met at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez worked as a sales assistant while Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid.
The couple announced their engagement on the same date last year, with Rodríguez sharing a photograph of a large diamond ring and writing in Spanish: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple shares two daughters: Alana Martina, born in 2017, and Bella, born in April 2022. Bella was delivered alongside a twin brother, who sadly passed away shortly after birth.
Rodríguez has also played a central role in raising Ronaldo’s three other children. The family is currently based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo, 41, continues to captain the Portugal national team and recently made his sixth and final World Cup appearance, a men’s tournament record he shares with Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
Over a storied career spanning Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al-Nassr, he has amassed nearly 1,000 professional goals.
A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, second only to Messi’s eight, Ronaldo signed a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr in 2025, securing his stay at the Saudi club through 2027.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ronaldo became the first footballer to reach billionaire status, with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion (£1.04 billion) as of last year.
