MP for Jomoro cuts sod for 25km Samenye-New Town Road Project

Work has commenced on the 25-kilometer Samenye Barrier to Half-Assini – New Town road in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.

The project is being executed by Kingspork Construction Limited and is expected to be completed by 2028.

Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, joined the contractor to cut the sod to kick-start the project at Samenye Barrier.

She said one kilometre of the road would be asphalted after which President John Dramani Mahama would perform an official sod-cutting ceremony for the entire project.

Madam Afo-Toffey said the deplorable nature of the stretch posed a major developmental challenge, crippling development in Jomoro and appealed to the contractor to finish the work on schedule.

The Management of Kingspork Construction Limited assured the Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, and the MP of completing the project on time.

The Management said workers would be grouped into three teams to speed up work and appealed to residents and commuters along the stretch to bear with them during the execution of the project.

Awulae Kwasi Amakyi III, the Traditional ruler, commended Madam Afo-Toffey for her developmental efforts in the Municipality.

He, however, noted that until the major road network was completed, all the MPs initiatives would be overshadowed, and asked the contractor to expedite work, assuring him of full support.
