The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a DAF articulator truck suspected of conveying a massive consignment of narcotic substances, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of over 5,000 compressed parcels.
According to a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) John Nchior, Head of Public Affairs for the Oti Region, the operation was carried out on September 14, 2026, acting on intelligence.
The truck, with registration number GE 3906-15, was intercepted and found to have narcotic substances concealed in secret compartments.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 5,164 compressed round parcels suspected to contain narcotic substances.
The three suspects arrested at the scene have been identified as Abdul Razak Adamu, 35, the driver, Jubril Amidu, 33, a mechanic, and Aliu Adamu, 33, also a driver.
A fourth occupant of the vehicle, identified as Adamu Iddi, managed to escape and is currently at large.
On September 17, 2026, the three arrested suspects were arraigned before the Dambai Circuit Court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Dr. Moses Bedima Duut.
They have been remanded into Police custody and are scheduled to reappear on October 15, 2026.
The articulator truck has been impounded, and the exhibits have been secured to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Police authorities have stated that efforts are actively underway to apprehend the escaped suspect, Adamu Iddi, and to identify other individuals connected to the consignment.
The Oti Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and organized crime in the region, urging the public to provide credible information to assist the Police in their efforts.
