The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects in connection with the seizure of nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine by French customs in France.
The drugs, concealed in a container that arrived from Ghana, are estimated to have a street value of €225 million, equivalent to approximately US$261 million.
According to a statement issued on Monday, September 14, 2026, the arrests follow the seizure of the shipment by French customs at the port of Dunkirk.
The cocaine was hidden in a container carrying plastic waste from Ghana. Part of the shipment was reportedly destined for Antwerp in Belgium.
The suspects are alleged to have represented and facilitated the activities of a Dutch fugitive identified as Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos,” in Ghana.
NACOC confirmed that the three suspects are in its custody and are assisting investigators as they examine their alleged roles in the trafficking operation.
The Commission stated that the arrests reaffirm its position that Ghana will not be allowed to become a haven, transit point, or operational base for international drug trafficking organisations.
It added that it will continue to work with domestic and international law enforcement partners to disrupt the people, finances, and infrastructure sustaining the illicit drug trade.
NACOC also gave assurance that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation will be safeguarded.
The investigation is ongoing.
