The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into allegations that a Customs officer at Accra International Airport extorted GHC600 from a traveller without issuing an official receipt.
The probe follows a video circulating on social media in which TikToker Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty claimed the officer collected the money from her under unclear circumstances.
In a statement, the GRA said it had noted the video and the allegations contained therein.
“The GRA wishes to assure the public that the Authority has commenced an investigation into the matter and will update the general public on the findings when completed,” the statement read.
The Authority did not disclose the identity of the officer involved or provide further details about the incident.
The GRA reiterated its commitment to integrity, accountability, and professionalism in its operations.
“The GRA remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate,” the statement added.
