A man believed to be an electrician is said to have died at Kpando in the Volta Region, when he made an attempt to replace a streetlight on an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Low voltage (LV) line.
The man, who has been identified as 33-year-old Joseph Ademi, worked with a private contractor was found hanging on the pole in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Joseph’s corpse was then removed and deposited at the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital morgue and the incident reported to the police for further investigations.

The Volta Regional ECG Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Obeng Antwi, speaking in an interview, said the deceased was not authorized by the District Office, to undertake such an activity.
He further added, “Another issue of concern was that he climbed the pole without isolation request and proper safety apparel.”
According to him, Joseph had his climbing shoes and belt seized by the staff of the Kpando District office for unlawful entry into an ECG network in the area sometime in 2019.
