More than 500 people participated in the annual Great Walk organised by the Dansoman Keep Fit Club on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Accra to promote healthy living, networking and community engagement.
The 12-kilometre walk, sponsored by Stanbic Bank, took participants through major streets of Dansoman, Mamprobi and Banana Inn before returning to the finishing point.
The event attracted people from different age groups, who took part in a series of activities aimed at encouraging physical fitness and social interaction.
Mr Benjamin Ahorlu, Chairman of the Dansoman Keep Fit Club, said the initiative was designed to encourage healthy lifestyles while creating opportunities for socialisation and community bonding.
“The walk is not only about exercise. It is also about bringing people together, promoting networking and strengthening community ties,” he said.
Mr Ahorlu urged Ghanaians to prioritise regular physical activity despite the demands of modern-day work schedules.
“It is important for people to cultivate the habit of exercising regularly because it contributes significantly to good health and overall wellbeing,” he stated.
He said the annual event formed part of efforts by the club to promote fitness and reduce lifestyle-related health conditions among Ghanaians.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the walk and called for increased public participation in future editions.
The Great Walk is one of the flagship community fitness activities of the Dansoman Keep Fit Club and continues to attract growing support from individuals and corporate organisations.
