The renowned inventor, industrialist, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, will be laid to rest on Thursday, July 30, 2026, marking the start of a three-day series of funeral rites in his honour, with his burial at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.
The funeral arrangements were announced jointly by Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Head of the Kantanka Family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and the official Funeral Planning Committee.
A national memorial service will follow on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Independence Square in Accra, where government officials, traditional rulers, clergy, business leaders, and members of the public are expected to pay their last respects.
The rites will conclude on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at Jackson Park in Kumasi, honouring the legacy of the man popularly known as “Kantanka.”
Apostle Safo founded the Kristo Asafo Mission in 1971 and went on to build the Kantanka Group, a homegrown industrial empire best known for assembling Ghana’s first locally manufactured vehicles.
His annual technology exhibitions drew thousands and showcased innovations in agriculture, electronics, and machinery.
Beyond his engineering feats, he was widely respected for philanthropy that provided education, healthcare, and vocational training to thousands of Ghanaians.
Tributes have since poured in from across the country, with many mourners hailing him as a symbol of African self-reliance and inventive genius.
