The June edition of the National Theatre’s flagship family education and entertainment programme, Funworld, has been scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026, at the theatre main auditorium.
The special edition, which takes off at 1000 hours, will commemorate the World Earth Day and World Environment Day, on the theme: “Our Power, Our Planet – Inspired by Nature, For a Sustainable Future.”
“The programme seeks to promote environmental awareness while nurturing creativity and talent among Ghana’s youth,” a release copied to Ghana News Agency said on Friday.
“This month’s edition would bring together 13 basic Schools from the Accra Metropolis for an exciting live stage showdown.”
Organsiers said students would use their creativity and innovation to champion environmental sustainability through a variety of engaging and educational activities.
“Audiences can look forward to powerful drama and poetry performances focused on environmental conservation and responsible stewardship of the planet,” it said.
“Patrons are expected to commit GHC 20.00 to the show, which will include quiz and debate competition as students engage in intellectual battles, demonstrating their knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills on environmental issues.”
To add colour and excitement to the programme, there would be captivating dance performances and a fashion show, showcasing rhythm, culture, creativity, and style, while promoting environmental consciousness, the release added.
Funworld has, over the years, provided students with the platform to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, leadership skills, and artistic excellence.
The programme remains a valuable avenue for nurturing young talents and inspiring positive social change through the arts. Parents, teachers, students, had been encouraged to join the sessions as young people use their talents to advocate a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future, the release said.
