The Ghana Police Service has deployed a Special Operations Support Team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to Nkwanta in the Oti Region to strengthen security and support ongoing investigations following recent attacks in the area.
The deployment, sanctioned by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yuhuno, forms part of efforts to restore calm, maintain law and order, and safeguard lives and property within the Nkwanta South Municipality.
A press release issued in Dambai on June 20, 2026, and signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer of the Oti Regional Police Command, stated that the recent attacks had resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to several persons.
The statement assured residents of the continued presence and vigilance of security agencies and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers by providing credible information to aid investigations.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace within the municipality,” the release stated.
The Police Administration further appealed to residents to support ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and reiterated its determination to pursue investigations until those responsible for the attacks are identified and brought to justice.
