Mr Issaka Saliu, Bono Regional Director of Research in charge of the Youth Working Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed his nomination to contest the position of Regional Secretary of the party in the Bono Region.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after filing his nomination at the party’s Regional Office in Sunyani, Mr Saliu pledged to strengthen the party’s structures at the grassroots level and improve internal communication.
He said the NDC in the region faced communication challenges that needed to be addressed to deepen engagement with party members and supporters at the grassroots.
Mr Saliu noted that the party also required befitting offices in all 12 constituencies in the region, stressing that branch executives, as the backbone of the NDC, ought to be adequately empowered ahead of the 2028 general election.
He commended President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC administration for what he described as efforts to stabilise the economy and improve the socio-economic well-being of the people.
Mr Saliu urged party members to remain united and not allow the upcoming internal elections to create divisions within the party.
Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, he said the NDC would maintain power beyond the 2028 elections if members remained focused and committed to the party’s objectives.
Mr Saliu appealed to delegates to vote for him as Regional Secretary to enable him to use his experience to strengthen the party’s administration and organisational structures in the region.
