Ms Khalida M. A. Seidu, Deputy Upper West Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared her intention to contest for the substantive position of Regional Women’s Organiser.
She said her decision was motivated by a desire to access greater opportunities and resources to improve the welfare and empowerment of women within the party in the region.
Ms Seidu, a former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Wa after her vetting and balloting ahead of the regional election scheduled for November 2026.
She said her experience as Deputy Regional Women’s Organiser had enabled her to identify key interventions that could advance the interests of women in the region if entrusted with the mandate.
Ms Seidu appealed to delegates to support her bid, promising to work towards strengthening structures that would enhance the welfare of women in the party.
She observed that empowering constituency women’s organisers would provide a solid foundation for expanding economic opportunities and support systems for women across the region.
According to her, women constituted a significant voting bloc and played a crucial role in determining electoral outcomes, making their empowerment and wellbeing critical to the fortunes of the party.
Ms Seidu is contesting the position against two other candidates, including the incumbent Regional Women’s Organiser and the Deputy Regional Communications Officer of the party.
