The National Housing Fund (NHF) will launch the EasyRent Scheme before the end of 2026 to provide low-interest rent advances for Ghanaians struggling to pay rent, Mr Prosper Hoetu, the Chief Executive Officer, has said.
He said the Fund would also invest in social housing to support vulnerable communities and expand access to decent accommodation.
Mr Hoetu made this known at the closing ceremony of the two-day National Conference on Housing Finance in Accra.

The conference, held on the theme: “Adequate Housing for All: Innovative Financing for Ghana’s Housing Future,” brought together stakeholders to discuss solutions to the country’s housing finance challenges.
He said the Fund would commit resources to initiatives that ensured that vulnerable people were not left behind in access to housing.
Mr Hoetu said existing social housing models could be strengthened and scaled up across the country to reach more communities.
He said the Fund would also advance plans for a national homebuyers database and digital marketplace to provide real-time information on housing demand and supply.
The platform, he said, would provide information on prospective homebuyers’ income levels and profiles to help the Fund develop housing products suited to their financial circumstances.
Mr Hoetu said the information would guide investment decisions and help ensure that housing finance products matched the needs and incomes of prospective beneficiaries.
He also announced plans to work with banks to finance the completion of unfinished houses to enable prospective homeowners to occupy them.
Under the proposed arrangement, the Fund and its partners would assess incomplete buildings, determine the resources required to finish them and provide financing for the work.
Beneficiaries would then repay the financing gradually, allowing them to move into completed homes while meeting their repayment obligations over time.
Mr Hoetu said the initiative could also create opportunities for construction workers and young people seeking employment in the building sector.
He, however, said the process required improvements in land title documentation to give banks the assurance needed to finance the completion of unfinished houses.
He said the NHF would work closely with the Lands Commission to establish an effective process for perfecting land titles and supporting housing finance.
