The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally condemned recent verbal attacks on former President John Agyekum Kufuor by US-based political commentator Kevin Ekow Taylor, demanding a public apology and calling on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to disavow the remarks.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NPP described Taylor’s comments as “vicious” and an act of “desecration” against a respected statesman.
The party expressed outrage over what it perceives as the NDC’s silence, arguing that inaction implies endorsement.
“President Kufuor rescued this nation from economic collapse, strengthened our democracy, and earned the admiration of Ghana and the world. He is not a partisan target; he is a father of this nation,” the statement read.
The NPP is demanding that President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC leadership publicly dissociate themselves from Taylor, who the NPP claims is a known operative of the ruling party.
Additionally, the party is calling for a “full and unqualified public apology” from Kevin Taylor directly to former President Kufuor.
