President John Dramani Mahama on Friday arrived in Alamein, Egypt, to attend the Eighth African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Summit.
The President will also be participating in the maiden Alamein Africa Forum, which is running parallel to the AU Heads of State Summit.
A statement issued by Ghana’s Presidency said the Alamein Africa Forum opens on Saturday with an address by the President of Egypt and a keynote by Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote.
It said President Mahama would later deliver the keynote at a plenary session on “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains.”
The statement said he would examine health as a strategic economic sector and investable market, and not just a social expenditure.
It said the Heads of State gathering for the Eighth AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit would be on Sunday, with President Mahama expected to hold key bilateral meetings on the sidelines, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The statement said the gatherings aim to advance African economic integration and sustainable development while creating a platform for governments, businesses, and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
