A serious multi-vehicle collision has brought traffic to a complete standstill on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at the Birimso Bridge.
The pile-up, which occurred earlier today, involves a fully loaded passenger bus, a heavy articulated truck, and a private sedan, completely blocking both carriageways.
Personnel from the Eastern South Regional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), based in Kibi, are currently managing the scene.

To mitigate gridlock, officers have implemented emergency diversions. Accra–bound motorists are being rerouted through Kibi via Nsutam while Kumasi-bound motorists are being diverted at Apedwa.

Authorities are urging all road users to exercise patience, adhere strictly to the temporary signage, and cooperate with traffic officers on the ground as clearance operations are underway.

Motorists are advised to anticipate significant delays and plan their journeys accordingly.
