Wallahs Academy SHS marks 20th anniversary with hospital bill donation to HTH

Wallahs Academy Senior High School in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, has fully settled the hospital bills of four patients at the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH).

The benevolent gesture was organised to commemorate the anniversary of the school’s establishment and has brought immense relief to the beneficiaries.

Two of the beneficiary patients had been discharged more than a month ago but could not go home because of their inability to clear their medical bills, with no relatives coming forward to assist them.

The remaining two patients are still on admission, including a preterm baby currently receiving specialised treatment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Rector and Founder of Wallahs Academy, Mr Maxwell Wallahs Affram, explained that the timely intervention was intentionally timed to mark the school’s founding on October 16, 2006.

He noted that the gesture aligned with the institution’s corporate social responsibility, aimed at giving back to the community and bringing relief and smiles to the faces of the patients.

Mr Affram said the hospital administration initially presented the school with the medical bills of seven stranded patients.

The Founder said the school successfully cleared the bills of four of these patients at a total cost of GHS 8,340 directly transforming their lives and restoring their happiness.

He noted that prior to the financial intervention, the school had also organised a blood donation drive for the hospital,  to replenish its blood bank and ensure critical life-saving quantity of the commodity was available for patients in emergency conditions.

Mr Affram emphasised that as a Christian, non-denominational educational institution, Wallahs Academy operated on the core principle that service to humanity was service to God.

The Rector stated that because society consisted of both the privileged and the underprivileged, it was the moral duty of the fortunate to uplift those in need.

Mr Affram urged other corporate bodies, institutions, and benevolent individuals to emulate the school’s example by supporting vulnerable citizens.

He specifically appealed to the public to assist the remaining three patients whose bills the school could not clear, so they too could be discharged to return home happily.

Reaffirming the school’s core mission, Mr Affram stated that Wallahs Academy remained dedicated to delivering high-quality education.

He said the institution continued to guide students toward academic excellence, preparing them to progress smoothly up the academic ladder and transition into responsible citizens who contributed meaningfully to national development.

Mr Affram disclosed that the Academy achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), with over 93 per cent of candidates securing between A1 and C6 across all subjects.

Describing this as an outstanding milestone, he expressed optimism for even greater academic feats, revealing that early indicators show over 96 per cent of the candidates presented for the 2026 examination scored between A1 and C6.

Dr Hintermann K. K. Mbroh, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ho Teaching Hospital, expressed sincere gratitude to Wallahs Academy for their timely intervention.

He also appealed for continued support to further enhance and improve the hospital’s service delivery.

Mr Farouk Iddrisu, the hospital’s Director of Administration, noted that the facility served clients across the region and beyond, with some patients even traveling from neighboring countries.

He emphasised that such interventions were vital, stating that everyone, especially the vulnerable deserved quality care.

Mr Iddrisu added that the support significantly advanced the hospital’s mission to provide seamless healthcare to patients.

He stated that the hospital was delighted to celebrate with the school and that going forward, the hospital would strengthen this partnership through initiatives such as health screenings for students.
